OUR REARING

The first four weeks our puppies grow up in the house. For this purpose, the litter box is set up in the living room a few days before the birth to enable our bitch getting slowly familiar with this.

In the beginning, the little ones are still blind and deaf. The smell is probably hardly pronounced. It is just enough to find the teats.
The mother bitch and the puppies are under supervision by us around the clock. This includes keeping the litter box clean, weighing the puppies daily, monitoring their health and much more. Of course, all are extensively stroked and cuddled. They should experience our touch and presence as pleasant and perceive our smell.

After about two weeks, the puppies open their eyes and ears. The sight and hearing is starting only from the 17th or 18th day. From now on, the little Toller can better perceive the environment. They are made familiar with everyday sounds by us. Vacuuming-cleaning, radio music, bell ringing, kitchen sounds and much more. With a special CD they are in addition getting trained carefully to many other sounds.

The puppies spend the first three weeks in the whelping box. Then they extend their range to the living room and later the whole apartment to explore and play. If the weather permits, the very lively Toller will visit our garden from the fourth week onwards. A puppy outlet with a partially covered area will offer them enough space to play, run and scramble with each other. Special training equipment is set up according to their state of development and we confront them with a variety of experiences such as balloons, flutter band, umbrella, clattering of tins and pots, etc. It is important that the puppies experience all new impressions in a positive way.
This all promotes the development of their physical, mental and primary activity. In this stage, the puppies are observed carefully, because not all will develop with the same speed. What is an easy task for one might still scare the other. If so, we will ensure to support this individually for balance.
Our older bitch Finja will certainly intervene in the education of puppies and this will positively impact the socialization phase of the puppies. The little ones should finally learn rules and norms for life with dogs and humans.

In the sixth week a control of our puppies and kennel will take place by a trustee of our breeding association. After a final veterinary examination we give our puppies with 9 or 10 weeks into their new families. At the puppy transfer, the little goblins are chipped, vaccinated according to life stage and dewormed several times. The documents such as sales contract, pedigree, vaccination book (EU-Pet Passport) and litter acceptance report are handed over, too.
